We are looking for our next TEAM member! This position is for 3rd shift and is located on-site at our Morristown, Tennessee location.
Position Summary
Ensures the cost-effective manufacture of Team Technologies products by leading/ supervising staff, managing resources, ensuring consistent good quality, and driving a safe environment.
More specific duties are listed below:
- Leads and supervises manufacturing operators by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Provides mentorship and coaching to new Supervisors to ensure that are successful.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
- Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Maintains continuous workflow by ensuring schedule communication, materials availability, labor assignment, and timely follow-up and resolution to production disruptions.
- Maintains product quality standards by enforcing quality standards across respective shift and reduces potential scrap through a proactive approach to minimize defective materials.
- Ensures line clearances are completed after production runs.
- Ensures operation of equipment continuity by calling for repairs to down or poorly performing equipment, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
- Specifically maintaining time/ attendance system, reporting on production output and scrap, absenteeism, and training.
- Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all PPE, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures of Team Technologies as well as local, state, and federal statutes.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of plant personnel and activities between plants.
- Communicates daily with the team.
- Applies the corrective action process when discrepancies/non- conformances are detected.
- Responsible for applying the preventive action process when potential issues/risks are identified.
- Also, responsible for assessing the importance/severity of the issues/risks and for initiating the preventive action for employees in the department.
- Identifies opportunities for Continuous Improvement and plans/ executes improvement activities and subsequent follow-up.
- Ensures that their shift is a model for 5S conformance.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred, but experience will be considered, e.g. intermediate working knowledge and moderate implementation experience for lean tools (6S, standard work, time studies, 5 whys, fishbone diagrams, etc.)
- Required skills in the following areas:
- Basic understanding of mechanical machine functions (e.g. pneumatics, cutting, press, printing, etc.)
- Machine control screens and how they work for assigned areas
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- GMP experience a plus.
- Ability to think outside the box and thrive in a stressful environment by correctly prioritizing tasks and making affective resource (man or machine) assignments.
Education / Experience Required:
A High School diploma, GED, or Associates degree are highly preferred, but commensurate mix of education and experience will be considered. 5+ years in a high-volume manufacturing leadership role.
