We are looking for our next TEAM member! This position is located on-site at our Morristown, TN (Corporate Office) location.

Position Summary

Within our Purchasing department, our Purchasing Agent(s) are responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and ensuring the delivery of materials to meet our customer order requirements and to maintain stock inventory levels.

Other duties include assigning item numbers to new raw materials, searching for suppliers who can meet our Supplier Standards and are competitive in pricing, recording cost savings information, working to obtain credit/correction for vendor errors, and having the ability to perform the role without on-going oversight.

More specific duties of the role are listed below:

  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from Director of Purchasing.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documents.
  • Uses electronic systems to import and organize documents, track vendor information and create and process purchase orders.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Exercises responsibility for accurate and timely performance of all activities.
  • Notifies sales/customer service of delays or issues.
  • Assists with cycle counts.
  • Meets with qualified suppliers to negotiate cost savings for reduced pricing.
  • Participates in cost savings by finding alternate suppliers and tracking their progress through material studies.
  • Conduct internal and external meetings in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and skills

  • Extensive knowledge of purchasing and supply chain componentry management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Close attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be very proficient, quick, and comfortable with personal computer navigation and operation.
  • MS Office skills, AX Microsoft Dynamics (a must), Advanced skills in Excel and Word.

Education and Experience

  • BS Degree in Business, Logistics or related field and/or five years in a Buyer Position.
  • Post-secondary courses in Purchasing preferred.
  • Up to three (3) years related experience or education.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics a plus.
